Why Homeowners Choose Home Window Tinting

Residential window tinting is the quickest way to make a hot, bright room usable again without replacing the glass. It helps with heat on west-facing windows, glare in living areas and media rooms, fading of floors and furniture, daytime privacy, and rooms that overheat through the glass.

60 to 82%
of the sun's total energy rejected, depending on your glass and aspect
99%
of UV blocked by quality home window film (3M)
87%
of a home's heat gain can come through its windows (YourHome)

The Right Film Depends on the Glass

Not every film suits every pane. Glass type, size, shading, aspect and frame condition all matter. The wrong film can raise the risk of thermal stress cracking, especially on some double-glazed and Low-E glass.

Film makers test their figures on one type of glass, and the result changes with the glass the film goes on. So we check each window first. A cheap film isn't cheap if it's the wrong one.

Before recommending a film, we look at:

  • The type and condition of the glass
  • Which way the window faces and how much sun it gets
  • Whether it's shaded, and by what
  • The size and shape of each pane
  • What you want from the room: heat, glare, privacy, looks, or all of them
Choosing Your Film

Common Home Window Film Options

We're independent, so we fit the film that suits your glass and the room, window by window. Most homes end up with a mix of these four.

How Much Does House Window Tinting Cost?

It depends on the glass area, the film, the number of panes, access, and whether old film has to come off first. Two homes with the same windows can need different film, so we don't publish a price list.

The accurate way to price a job is a free measure at your place. You get a fixed written price, and our price-beat applies.

How Long Does Home Window Tinting Take?

Most standard homes are done in one day. Larger homes, hard access, tricky glass or old film removal can take longer. We confirm the time before we start.

Will Window Tint Make My House Too Dark?

Not if the film suits the room. Visible light transmission (VLT) is the share of light that passes through the film, and plenty of films cut heat while keeping rooms bright. That's why we bring samples.

Can Window Tint Cause Glass to Crack?

The wrong film on the wrong glass can raise thermal stress. The risk depends on glass type, size, shading and existing damage, which is why we assess every pane before recommending a film.

"About a year after installation, on one of the windows tint peeled off slightly. Kym got onto it straight away and Jake came out to rectify. I respect a company that stands by its product and warranty."

FAQs

Residential Window Tinting FAQs

Does house window tinting keep a Gold Coast house cooler?

Yes. The films we fit reject 60 to 82% of the sun's total energy, depending on the glass and which way it faces. We won't promise a figure off your power bill, because every house is different.

Will window film stop floors and furniture fading?

It slows it right down. Quality film blocks up to 99% of UV, and in Queensland the UV index reaches 3 or above every day. Heat and visible light also fade things, so no film stops it completely.

Does privacy tint work at night?

Not on its own. Reflective films only give privacy in the daytime. Once the lights inside are brighter than outside, privacy is lost. Frosted film gives privacy day and night.

When can I clean the windows after tinting?

Wait until the film has cured. We tell you the time on the day. After that, clean it like a normal window with a soft cloth.

Are small bubbles or a hazy look normal?

Small moisture pockets and a slight haze are normal while the film cures. Bubbles from a poor install are different, and the warranty covers them.

Can you remove old window tint?

Yes. We remove old, bubbling or faded film and quote the removal and the new film together at the free measure.
